Athens-Clarke County police officer struck by vehicle, roads closed

An Athens-Clarke County police officer and another civilian were both struck by a vehicle  on College Station Road at North Oconee Access, just up from Riverbend. The ACC Police tweeted from its official account that the officer is OK, but the civilian is being transported to to a hospital with a leg injury.

Other road closures due to icy road conditions:

- Vincent Drive at Jefferson River Road is blocked both ways

-  The East bound lane on College Station Rd from the loop to Riverbend will be closed

-  All of Research Dr from Barnett Shoals through College Station Rd

Many areas remain in icy conditions, especially surface streets that are not exposed to very much sunlight. The temperatures today are only supposed to barely rise above freezing, making conditions hazardous all day, especially into the evening and overnight.
