DOT: traffic shift on Mars Hill Rd

A heads-up for drivers in Oconee County: the DOT says, starting today, there’s a traffic shift on Mars Hill Road, impacting traffic between Woodland and Daniels Bridge Road. It’s part of the massive Mars Hill Road widening project that is due for completion next year. The DOT says the new traffic alignment will shift all lanes on the east side of Mars Hill between Daniels Bridge and Woodland.

From the Georgia Dept of Transportation...

Traffic will shift on the Mars Hill Road widening project on October 17, 2017 weather permitting. The new traffic alignment will place all lanes on the east side of Mars Hill Road from Woodland to Daniels Bridge Road.

The traffic shift will allow the Contractor to construct the fill area over the last culvert near Dooley Ave. and the Humane Society.

Currently, the next shift late this fall will place north and south bound traffic on each side of the median, then final pavement will be placed.
