Georgia professors seek injunction on campus carry law

Professors from the University of Georgia join with colleagues at Valdosta State and Georgia Southwestern University in Americus, filing a lawsuit seeking an injunction on Georgia’s new campus carry law. The professors claim the Governor overstepped his authority when he signed the bill that allows permitted students and others to carry firearms on college and university campuses in Georgia. The suit says the decision should rest with the schools and with the state Board of Regents. Georgia’s campus carry bill was passed by the legislature earlier this year and became law effective July 1.
