Hospital reopens after crash

Repairs are still underway but a hospital evacuation has been lifted after a tanker truck crash and oxygen leak early Sunday.

The crash knocked out power in the area, forced officials to temporarily evacuate Chestatee Regional Hospital and blocked roads near Crown Mountain Drive and Mountain Drive, according to the Lumpkin County sheriff’s office.

The accident happened when a wheel from the oxygen-filled tanker truck slid off the road and caused the tank to detach and flip, Lumpkin County’s chief deputy told Channel 2 Action News.

No injuries have been reported in the incident about 65 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta.
