Jefferson High School football playoff game moved to Thomson

It is news that will not be welcomed by high school football fans in Jefferson. They had planned to watch the Jefferson High School Dragons play a state semi-final game at home Friday night. The Georgia High School Association has ruled that the game will be moved to Thomson because of a lack of seating capacity in Memorial Stadium. The stadium at Thomson has 5,700 seats, while Memorial Stadium in Jefferson has only 3,100.

"We're going to make the most of the opportunity to play in the semifinals, and we're not going to let the venue be a distraction," Dragon coach Ben Hill told Mainstreet News in Jefferson. "Our goal is to prepare, and now go to Thomson and win the ball game."

Jefferson advanced to the semi-finals with a 17-13 win last Friday night against the Cairo Syrupmakers, a game that was played in Grady County.
