UGA baseball game suspended due to rain, will resume today

ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia versus Xavier was suspended in the top of the seventh inning with the Bulldogs trailing, 8-4. The game will resume tomorrow, March 8, at 4 p.m.  Game two of the series is set to begin at 6 p.m.
After giving up a run in the top of the first inning, the Bulldogs took the lead in the bottom of the frame. Tucker Maxwell was walked to start the inning before Cam Shepherd came to the plate and hit his first career homerun over the fence in left field.  
Down 5-2 heading into the bottom of the third, Georgia was able to tack on two runs to cut Xavier’s lead to one.  Logan Moody led off with a single up the middle and Maxwell singled to right field before Shepherd brought them home with a single to center field.  
Xavier added one run in the fifth and two more in the sixth for its 8-4 lead heading into the rain delay. 
Dawg Tracks: Logan Moody had his first career start in left field and made the second out of the second inning. 
Cam Shepherd has a career-high three hits and four RBIs.
