ACCPD IDs crash victim, updates shooting investigation

We have this morning the name of the teenager killed in a car crash in Athens: Luis Vazquez Gayton was 17 years old, from Athens. Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating the accident that happened on Newton Bridge Road.

Athens-Clarke County Police say a 17 year-old will be charged in the shooting that wounded a 19 year-old woman at Parkview Homes off Baxter Street: the shooting happened Monday afternoon in Athens. The woman who was shot was hospitalized, as was the teenager who allegedly shot her.

There is a Go Fund Me account for the family of Hall County murder victim Qualyn Turner. The 21 year-old Turner was shot and killed last weeked in Gainesville. 32 year-old Daniel Guerrero has been arrested and charged in his murder. The deadly shooting happened last Saturday and remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

The White County Sheriff’s Office says no charges have been filed in the case of a father who shot and killed his son in Sautee: investigators say it appears to have been a case of self-defense. 34 year-old Anthony Chambers was killed. The GBI is investigating.
