Athens adds sites for early voting in DA’s race

The early voting that began Monday continues today, with additional sites added in Athens: voters can cast ballots in advance of the District Attorney’s election at the Elections Office on Washington Street, and, beginning today, at the Library on Baxter Street, the Miriam Moore Community Center on McKinley Drive, the Extension Office on Cleveland Road, and the Tennis Center on Lexington Road.

Voters in Oconee County are voting today and again tomorrow at the Civic Center in Watkinsville, helping decide the DA’s race that pits Democrat Deborah Gonzalez against non-partisan prosecutor James Chafin. The winner will be District Attorney in Clarke and Oconee counties.

The Georgia Secretary of State’s office is finalizing plans for the machine recount of votes in this month’s presidential election: the recount was requested by the Trump campaign. The President appears to have lost Georgia to Joe Biden, who looks to have won the state by some 12 thousand of the almost five million ballots that were cast.
