Clarke Co School District schedules town hall

Start of school year has been delayed

Monday was supposed to have been the first day of a new school year in the Clarke County School District. Instead, the Clarke County School Board voted to delay the start of fall classes from August 3 to September 8, the Tuesday after Labor Day. That was followed by a controversial School District decision to begin classes exclusively on-line. The District has scheduled a public hearing for next Wednesday to discuss the changes.

From the Clarke County School District website…

The Clarke County School District will hold a Virtual Town Hall meeting to answer questions relating to the start of school. This town hall is scheduled for Wednesday, August 5, 2020, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. During this meeting, the Chief Academic Officer, Chief of Operations, Chief of Human Resources, Executive Director of Special Education, and Director of School Nursing, will be present to answer questions.

The District says questions can be submitted on its website…

The submission form will be closed at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3rd. Similar questions will be grouped or reflected as one to prevent duplication or redundancy of answers. We will make every reasonable effort to address the submitted questions and suggestions/topics during the meeting. We will reactivate the link during the town hall for the submission of live questions. Meeting Format We will live stream the meeting via YouTube on our Clarke County School District YouTube channel. The meeting will be recorded in its entirety and available to re-watch on our district website. School Town Hall Meetings In addition to the district-wide town hall, each CCSD school will host a town hall to answer school-specific questions. Information regarding the school town halls will be released next week.
