The Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections begins preparations for Saturday early voting, now allowed in Georgia after this week’s ruling from the state Court of Appeals: it will be held from 9 til 5 Saturday at the Elections Office on Washington Street and at the Miriam Moore Community Center on McKinley Drive in Athens.
The Saturday session for advance voting is in addition to the previously scheduled Sunday early voting, which will take place exclusively at the Elections Office next to City Hall. A full week of early voting at five precincts—the Elections Office, the Miriam Moore Community Center, the Library on Baxter Street, the Extension Office on Cleveland Road, and the Tennis Center on Lexington Road--begins Monday.
Runoff day is December 6, with voters in Athens and around the state choosing between Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker.
