ACCPD:  An arrest in two related shootings

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is reporting the arrest of a suspect in multiple Athens shootings.

From the ACCPD:

On 08-14-2017 ACCPD officers were dispatched to two related shootings. The first occurred off Oak Hill drive at approximately 3:30 p.m. Multiple 9-1-1 calls were received about shots being fired in the area. One Caller, an employee of the apartment complex, advised that a shooting had occurred near the front of the building. While reviewing video footage, officers were able to identify a vehicle involved, a white in color Jeep Cherokee. Officers were able to locate multiple shell casings in the area.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., ACCPD responded to Pamela Drive in reference to multiple calls of shots being fired in the area. When officers arrived, they were given a vehicle description of a white Jeep Cherokee that was involved in the shooting. Officers were also able to find several shell casings, as well as locate a vehicle that was struck. While processing this scene, officer’s located the white in color Jeep Cherokee that was seen at both the locations. The vehicle was occupied by Johntavious King who was arrested and charged with two counts of reckless conduct and criminal trespass, damage to property.

Detectives are continuing to investigate this case. At this time, no victims have come forward stating they were the targets of the gunfire. Anyone who has information in this case is asked to contact detective Kim Johnson at 706-613-3330 ext. 331.
