The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is investigating an overnight shooting.
From the ACCPD:
On June 23, 2020 at approximately 1523 hours, ACCPD responded to an unknown problem at 115 Berlin St. Upon arrival, officers found evidence that a shooting had taken place, but did not locate anyone shot. Whitley Smith, 28 of Athens, subsequently arrived at a local hospital with a serious, but non-lifethreatening, gunshot wound. Detectives were able to link the gunshot injury to the incident on Berlin St. Investigation of the incident has led to the issuance of an Aggravated Assault warrant against Tishauwn Mahaffey, 30 of Athens.
