Area briefs include ensemble concert at UGA, TAD committee meeting at City Hall

There is music this evening in Athens: the African American Choral Ensemble holds its fall concert in the Performing Arts Center at the University of Georgia’s Hodgson Hall.

City Hall says the community centers at Heard Park and Lay Park in Athens are closed for the week: gym floors in both facilities are getting refinished. The facilities are scheduled to reopen next Monday.

We have this morning the name of the Mt Airy man who was killed in a weekend crash in Habersham County: Francisco Mattias was 22 years old. The Georgia State Patrol says the single-vehicle accident happened on Toccoa Highway in Habersham County.
