Athens adds to COVID death, vaccination totals

The Georgia Department of Public Health says Athens has added more deaths from coronavirus, with the 12-month total for Clarke County now standing at 117. There have been more than 37 thousand COVID 19 vaccinations administered in Athens.

Governor Brian Kemp travels to Habersham County today: he will visit the mass coronavirus vaccination site at the Habersham County Fairgrounds in Clarkesville. It is one of four set up by the state, with five more scheduled to open next week.

Today is the first day most teachers in Georgia are eligible to receive coronavirus vaccinations.

A new report on coronavirus cases in nursing homes says nursing home deaths in Georgia were down 68 percent from January to February, with COVID vaccines getting the credit.
