Athens man gets life sentence for 2019 murder

Max Early gets a life sentence, punishment handed down Monday in Clarke County Superior Court: the 23 year-old Early was convicted of shooting and killing 24 year-old Griff Harris in February of last year, a shooting that happened at an apartment on Sycamore Drive in Athens.

A teenager from Habersham County faces charges in the February crash that claimed the life of a 65 year-old man from Toccoa: Hayward Cochran was killed in the wreck that happened on Georgia Highway 17; the Georgia State Patrol says 17 year-old Charles Carswell faces charges that include second-degree vehicular homicide.

There is still no word on the cause of death for a 23 year-old Kennesaw woman who died while hiking on the Panther Trail in Habersham County: her body was found Sunday.
