Athens’ two-week COVID count again tops 100

The latest update from the Georgia Department of Public Health shows 104 positive tests for coronavirus over the past two weeks in Clarke County. The two-week rolling average had dipped into the mid-20s earlier this summer after hitting a high of more than 1,300 earlier this year.

DPH says 39 percent of Athens residents are considered fully vaccinated against COVID 19. That figure stands at 51 percent in Oconee County, and 40 percent statewide. State and local health officials continue to encourage those who remain unvaccinated to take their shots.
