Athens water survey ends

A City Hall survey on water infrastructure wraps up tomorrow: the Athens-Clarke County Public Utilities Department is gathering input on the County government website.

From the Athens-Clarke Co government website…

As a customer of the Athens-Clarke County (ACC) Public Utilities Department, your opinion on our water rate structure is important to the utility. A rate is the amount a customer pays for the water they use. The rate structure considers the full costs to provide water and wastewater service and creates a framework to cover these costs.

The ACC Public Utilities Department (PUD) is an enterprise fund. Unlike ACC Departments funded through the general fund, which is supported through tax dollars, the ACC PUD generates revenue to cover all operations and maintenance expenses, as well as finance capital investments. These expenses include the costs to treat water and wastewater, repair and replace infrastructure, and prepare for future water and wastewater demands.

With this understanding, we would like your feedback on the current ACC PUD tiered water rate structure, other water rate structures frequently used by utilities, and general perceptions regarding the value of water. The following survey should take around ten minutes to complete, is voluntary, and anonymous.
