Authorities seek help in finding suspect of high speed car chase

Both the Athens-Clarke County Police Department and the Oglethorpe County Police Department are asking for the public’s help in locating suspect Greg Taylor of Athens. Authorities say Taylor has arrest warrants from Clarke County for “violence against another person” and that Oglethorpe County deputies were involved in a high speed chase with him on Sept. 21. Oglethorpe County Sheriff David Gabriel says he will soon have numerous warrants out of Oglethorpe County.

Below is the full statement from the Sheriff, as shared on Facebook.

“Deputies were involved in a high speed chase with a vehicle in to Clarke County last Friday. The suspect got away after passing an 18 wheeler on a hill crest at 120 mph. The vehicle was later located and impounded by Oglethorpe County Deputies in Clarke County.

The driver has been positively identified as Greg Taylor of Athens. He has warrants out of Clarke County and will soon have numerous warrants out of Oglethorpe County for his efforts.

We need your help finding this person. He has already shown a blatant disregard for the public’s safety exhibited by his driving. His warrants from Clarke County are for violence against another person. He is the kind of person I would like to get off the streets of Oglethorpe. We would appreciate your help. If you see him please call 911 to report it.

I have included several photos to include his impressive collection of tattoos.”
