Campus construction advisory for work at Sanford Stadium

You will see construction work at Sanford Stadium beginning this week: crews will be upgrading stadium lighting in a project that is expected to be completed by the middle of August, in time for September's home football games. UGA says the East Campus Drive loading area near Reed Plaza will serve as a construction staging area, which could impact pedestrian flow. The University says East Campus Road will be open while the work is ongoing.

From the University of Georgia master calendar…

Following Commencement, construction of the Sanford Stadium LED Lighting Upgrade will begin on May 13 and extend until August 15. The upgrade includes removal and replacement of all sports light fixture heads on existing light poles on the interior of the stadium at the top level. The East Campus Drive loading area near Reed Plaza will be used for construction access and deliveries, as will portions of the areas next to Field Street on the south side of the stadium. Two (2) cranes will be set up at various times during the period, and some areas frequented by pedestrians will at times be cordoned off at both Field Street and Reed Plaza to ensure the safety of the users and those who frequent facilities nearby. East Campus Drive and Field Street will remain open for vehicular traffic and will be monitored by UGA Public Safety and by construction safety personnel. The West End will remain open to pedestrians at all times. Those needing access to Sanford Stadium must enter from the West End area. The elevators will remain accessible. Construction work may take place days, nights, and weekends throughout the period as necessary to maintain the schedule.
