Candidate forums: one last night, another Monday

Candidates for seats in the Georgia House and Senate faced off on a Thursday night forum organized by the Chambers of Commerce in Athens and Oconee County. Another candidates' forum is on tap for Monday night in Athens, underway at 6 o'clock at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church on Old West Broad Street. Incumbents and challengers seeking seats in the Georgia House and Senate have been invited to take part in an event organized by the Athens Community Agenda. The forum was broadcast live on WGAU.

From the Athens Community Agenda…

Athens voters will get the opportunity to meet and hear from candidates for state offices at a forum hosted by the Athens Community Agenda.

The forum featuring state House and state Senate candidates will take place on Monday, October 15 in the Fellowship Hall of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church (1931 Old West Broad Street, Athens). A meet-and-greet will take place from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., with the forum immediately following.

This forum is likely one of the final chances to hear from the candidates ahead of the crucial Nov. 6 election.

Invited candidates include: State Rep. Deborah Gonzalez and challenger Houston Gaines; State Rep. Jonathan Wallace and challenger Marcus Wiedower; and State Sen. Bill Cowsert and challenger Marisue Hilliard.
