Christmas parade tonight in Athens

Tonight is parade night in Athens: the annual Downtown Parade of Lights steps off at 7 o'clock at the corner of Hancock and Pulaski and culminates with the lighting of the Christmas tree in front of City Hall.

Thursday, December 1st, 2016, Athens Transit System will operate Route 6 - West Hancock, on an alternate route in response to the 2016 Downtown Parade of Lights between 3:45 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. Bus stops along Willow Street, North Thomas Street, and Hancock Avenue up to Milledge Avenue will not be serviced by Route 6 - West Hancock during this time. Riders in the area affected may board Route 6 - West Hancock at the Athens Transit Multi – Modal Transportation Center, or at outbound bus stops located along West Broad Street beginning at West Broad and Lumpkin Street continuing to West Broad and North Church Street. Route 6 - West Hancock, will resume its normal route at the intersection of South Milledge and Hancock Ave. Normal bus service for Route 6 - West Hancock will resume on Friday.
