Clarke GOP meeting highlights local events calendar

Athens-Clarke County Republicans meet tonight, 6 o’clock at the Country Inn and Suites on Old Epps Bridge Road in Athens. They will hear from Hana Caner, wife of Truett-McConnell University president Emir Caner. She will talk about her experiences in growing up in communist Czechoslovakia.

There is sidewalk talk this evening in Athens: a forum on plans for new sidewalk installation along Cherokee Road between Lexington and Beaverdam Roads is set for 6 o'clock at Athens-Ben Epps Airport. 

There is an evening meeting of the Athens Cultural Affairs Commission: it is a 6 o'clock session at the Lyndon House Arts Center on Hoyt Street in Athens. 

The Oconee County Industrial Development Authority meets this afternoon, 4 o'clock at Oconee County Chamber of Commerce headquarters in Watkinsville. 

City officials in Hartwell say they are just about finished with the renovation work on Depot Street in downtown Hartwell: they say they are hoping to put the final touches on sales tax-funded work that began earlier this year by the end of the month.
