Commissioners craft budgets in Watkinsville, Gainesville

Oconee County Commissioners set the County's budget calendar, scheduling public hearings for July and August in advance of the August 6 setting of the Oconee County property tax rate. 

The City Council in Jefferson is looking at a proposal that would allow for a taproom in downtown Jefferson to serve beer and wine. There could be a vote when the Council meets Monday. 

Barrow County Commissioners are working to finalize the list of projects that would be funded if Barrow County voters approve a November sales tax referendum. It's a penny-on-the-dollar tax proposal designed to generate more than $13 million over the next six years.

Hall County Commissioners met last night in Gainesville and officially unveiled a $276 million Hall County budget, one that will be due for a final vote later this month.

There was a Thursday groundbreaking in Gwinnett County, the ceremonial start of work on the expansion of the Lawrenceville Performing Arts Center and Aurora Theater. When the $31 million project is completed late next year, the facility will be among the largest performing arts stages in Georgia.
