Drug, arson suspects arrested

A man and woman are arrested in Elbert County, caught with drugs in the pick-up lane of a school in Elberton: the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office says 34 year-old Ansean Cordreik and 29 year-old Latifah Glaze had methamphetamine and marijuana in their car at the Paul J. Blackwell Learning Center.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office says an arson suspect is behind bars: James Chastain (pictured above) is charged with setting the July 1 fire that burned a double-wide mobile home in Royston.

A man and woman are behind bars in Rabun County: the Sheriff's Office in Clayton says James Davidson and Ashley Shirley were caught with almost two pounds of methamphetamine. They were arrested after a traffic stop on US Highway 441 in Rabun County. 

The GBI is investigating allegations of forgery in the Newton County town of Porterdale: City Manager Bob Thomson resigned earlier this month, accused of signing the name of Porterdale Mayor Arline Chapman on city checks and other official documents.
