Elberton, Bowman bicker over Authority funding

Representatives from the Elbert County Development Authority and the city of Elberton met with the Bowman City Council this week, asking for the Bowman to reinstate its $5,000 annual contribution to the Authority budget. The City discontinued those payments two years ago.

“It is my goal as the chairman to try to bring everybody together, pulling in one step to better our community,” says Authority Chair Greg Gunter. “So I want to make sure we work equally with both cities and with the county, that we’re open and transparent with everyone and that everyone has a voice in what we’re doing.”

Elbert County and the City of Elberton each pay $60,000 toward the Development Authority’s $130,000 annual budget.
