Family of shooting victim makes donations

Tate Prezzano's family makes donations to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department Foundation, the GBI, and the Piedmont Athens Regional Foundation. Prezzano continues his recovery from an April shooting at a bus stop on South Milledge Avenue. The 22 year-old University of Georgia lacrosse player was critically wounded in what police say was a robbery attempt. 20 year-old Zarren Garner was later arrested and charged.

From Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center…

You might remember Tate Prezzano's story earlier this year. He is the UGA lacrosse player who was shot near one of the bus stops on the UGA campus. Tomorrow, his family is presenting donations to three organizations in town who made a difference in Tate's accident and his recovery.

They’ll be giving donations to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department Foundation, the GBI, and the Piedmont Athens Regional Foundation. Our check will be in honor of Philip Haymore, RN. They’re specifically honoring Philip because he not only happened to be one of the first individuals on scene when the shooting first occurred, but he also is the clinical manager of our ICU where the Prezzano family spent time during Tate’s recovery. Philip was on his way to work when he came across the accident and began immediate treatment for Tate until EMS arrived to bring him to the hospital.
