Father to be charged in child’s murder

There are now murder charges for a Hall County man after the death of his infant son: 28 year-old Carlton Mathis was arrested after a shootout with SWAT team officers in Florida. The body of 6-month-old CJ Oakes was found in a freezer at a motel in Dothan Alabama. The baby’s mother, Amanda Oakes, was also arrested in Florida. She’s facing a manslaughter charge.

The body had been there five or six days, according to police.

They were arrested outside a Bronson, Fla., apartment after a standoff with SWAT, marking the end of a multistate manhunt that began three days earlier in Hall County. Hall sheriff’s deputies were tipped off that the couple was staying in the Dothan area and it was possible their son was dead.
