Former Bowman Mayor dies

The funeral for former Bowman Mayor James Creason is set for 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Dewy Rose Baptist Church: Creason died earlier this week at the age of 89. Besides his single term as mayor, he was a longtime school principal in Elbert County.

Current Bowman Mayor Pete Gibbons released the following statement:

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Rev. James Creason. During his many years as principal of Bowman Elementary School, local pastor and mayor, Mr. Creason touched more lives of Bowman residents than possibly anyone else ever has. His contributions to our community could never be expressed in words. Bowman would not be the place it is today without Mr. Creason.”
