Ga DOT holds forum on plans for 316 in Oconee Co

The Georgia Department of Transportation holds today a public information session on the latest plans for Highway 316 at Virgil Langford Road and the Oconee Connector. A virtual open house gets underway at 4 o’clock this afternoon.

From the Oconee Co government website...

The Georgia Department of Transportation is placing project information for review and feedback into an internet platform to allow citizens to review and comment on the proposed project.  We appreciate your participation in this process.

Georgia DOT has posted information at (https://transformingsr316-gdot.hub.arcgis.com/) related to the proposed improvements to State Route (SR) 8/SR 316/US 29 at County Road (CR) 440/ CR 662/Virgil Langford Road and at CR 929/Oconee Connector.

As part of Georgia DOT’s effort to improve mobility, potentially reduce crashes, and improve traffic flow conditions along SR 8/SR 316/US 29, the current at-grade crossings of SR 8/SR 316/US 29 with CR 440/CR 662/Virgil Langford Road and with CR 929/Oconee Connector are being considered for reconstruction. These proposed reconstruction projects consist of constructing a new overpass bridge that would connect CR 440/CR 662/Virgil Langford Road across SR 316/8/US 29 and creating a grade-separated partial cloverleaf interchange at CR 929/Oconee Connector.

The purpose of this internet format is to provide an opportunity for the public to review the proposed projects, provide feedback, and submit questions and comments for the project’s record.

On June 22, 2022, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, Georgia DOT will host a live, virtual Public Information Open House (PIOH) Presentation and Question & Answer Session, allowing the public to meet virtually ask questions of designated Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) about the projects. On the day of the event, information and details on how to access the virtual presentation will be posted on the project website, provided above.
