Gainesville Council to vote on alcohol ordinance change

Athens-Clarke County has already done it; Gainesville is expected to do it today: the Gainesville City Council is scheduled to take up a measure that will allow restaurants to serve alcohol earlier on Sundays.

The Georgia Legislature changed the law last year, allowing local governments to decide the question of Sunday sales in restaurants.

Newly adopted ordinances in cities and counties across the state have changed the hour from 12:30pm to 11am. This afternoon’s Gainesville City Council meeting starts at 5:30 at the Public Safety Complex in Gainesville.
