Leaders with Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville say the Red Cross recently reduced the amount of blood deliveries to the hospital by 50 percent. The head of the medical lab tells GNN affiliate WDUN the facility is below the minimum number of units it likes to keep on hand. The Red Cross says the shortage is due to an unusually high number of trauma cases and emergency room visits nationwide.
