Gainesville man gets life sentence after murder plea

A Hall County man will serve a life sentence for the 2018 stabbing death of his girlfriend: 51 year-old Wendell Armour was sentenced in Gainesville after pleading guilty in the murder of 42 year-old Jodi Gerrell.

A man pleaded guilty Monday to stabbing his girlfriend to death in 2018, receiving a life sentence without the possibility of parole as a result, authorities said.

Wendall Gregory Armour, 51, pleaded guilty to malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and a weapon possession charge in the death of Jodi Lane Gerrell, Northeastern Judicial Circuit District Attorney Lee Darragh said.

Gerrell, 42, was found dead Feb. 17, 2018, in a home off Miller Lake Road, AJC.com previously reported.

Deputies and emergency responders were called to the scene about 6 p.m. after a man “behaving abnormally” was reported in the area. The man, later identified as Armour, was taken to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center for an evaluation before being arrested the next day.
