Gainesville Police probe homicide

The Gainesville Police Department has what appears to be a homicide on its hands. Police say the remains of a body turned up in a culvert off Browns Bridge Road, and investigators say they could have been there for several years. It appeared that the body was in a shallow grave, but that erosion over time had exposed it. There is now word yet on gender, identification, or on a possible cause of death.    

The GBI is helping Gainesville Police with the ongoing investigation.
