Gas prices: Does it feel like you’re paying more at the pump? You’re right

ATLANTA — If it feels like filling up your car is more expensive lately, it’s because it is.

Triple A reports that Georgia gas prices are going up, a modest increase from last week.

Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $2.58 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average is 1 cent more than a week ago, 30 cents more than last month, and 37 cents more than this time last year.

It now costs drivers $38.70 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that is $1.80 more than what motorists paid in January of 2020, when pump prices hit their peak of $2.46 per gallon.

“A modest increase at the pump for Georgia motorists this week,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Rising crude prices contributed to the increase this week. As a result, pump prices will likely continue to increase through the end of the month.”

• Most expensive Georgia metro markets – Hinesville-Fort Stewart ($2.66), Savannah ($2.64), and Brunswick ($2.62)
• Least expensive Georgia metro markets – Catoosa-Dade-Walker ($2.54), Athens ($2.56), and Warner Robins ($2.57)
