GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — The GBI is investigating an inmate death at the Gwinnett County Jail.
Deputy Pagan with the Gwinnett sheriff’s office says Phillip Antwon Munroe was found unresponsive in his cell during a routine security check in a maximum security housing unit.
Munroe was arrested in july of 2022 on charges of aggravated assault, robbery, and hijacking a motor vehicle.
The sheriff’s office is not providing any details about how the inmate died.
