GDOT: Heads up for drivers in Winder

The Georgia DOT says work on the West Winder Bypass project enters a new phase today, with traffic shifting onto newly constructed northbound lanes on Patrick Mill Road in Barrow County. The West Winder Bypass will eventually realign State Routes 8 and 211 in Winder. It’s a $59 million projected that started almost two years ago.

From the Georgia DOT…

On Wednesday traffic will shift over to the newly construction northbound lanes on Patrick Mill Road. Construction partners will begin moving barrels early that morning and traffic should be using the new lanes by 9 a.m.  Please slow down while traveling through the work zone as traffic will be adjusting to a new alignment.  The west winder bypass project proposes to realign SR 211 over SR 8 and the railroad in Winder onto the existing Patrick Mill Road. The construction process will occur in three phases. This project was awarded to E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc. in August 2018 for approximately $59 million.
