GSP probes deadly crash in Jackson Co

Two people were killed in a Wednesday crash on I-85 in Jackson County: a wrong-way driver gets the blame for the pile-up that happened on 85 near Dry Pond Road in Jackson County. The Georgia State Patrol identifies the wrong-way driver as Carlos Cobb, 32 years old from Gainesville. He was killed, as was the driver of a second vehicle. That person’s name has not yet been released.

A State Patrol investigation is ongoing.

Charges will be filed in the aftermath of the Tuesday crash that killed a 17 year-old high school student. Four teenagers were in the car when it left the road and hit a tree in Cherokee County. Two other 17 year-olds and a 15 year-old were injured. Stephen Smith, a senior at Creekview High School in Cherokee County, was killed.
