Gun confiscated at Clarke Central

A statement from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department says that on Sept. 4, a Clarke Central High School Resource Officer was made aware that a 15-year-old student had a gun on school grounds. The School Resource Officer along with school administrators then found the student and confiscated the gun from the student’s backpack. They say a juvenile complaint has been filed against the 15-year-old male for possession of a weapon on school grounds. The student was taken into custody by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department and was transported to juvenile detention.

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department also noted: “ACCPD and the Clarke County School District take the security of school children and employees seriously and encourage families to discuss the dangers of weapons in school. Please remind your children to report any weapons or threats to an adult immediately.”
