All lanes of I-85 northbound are shut down in Franklin County Sunday night due to a hazmat situation.
All lanes were initially shut down in both directions, but the southbound lanes have since reopened.
The Georgia Department of Public Safety said a crash involving a commercial vehicle carrying hazardous materials happened near mile marker 160 in Carnesville.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said they “were not releasing any information to the news at this time.”
Franklin County is in the northeast part of the state along the Georgia/South Carolina border.
It’s unclear what sort of hazardous materials spilled or if anyone was injured.
Drivers traveling through the area should seek alternate routes.
