Homecoming weekend activities include football and basketball

Several streets in downtown Athens will be closed this afternoon: the University of Georgia’s Homecoming parade steps off at 6 o’clock this evening. UGA president Jere Morehead is this year’s parade grand marshal.

The Georgia Bulldog football team is set to play its first night game of the college football season: Saturday's homecoming game against Vanderbilt kicks off at 7:30 and will be televised on the SEC Network. 

The Georgia Bulldog basketball team, gearing up for its first season under new head coach Tom Crean, opens Stegeman Coliseum to Bulldog basketball fans tonight. An event called "Stegmania" gets underway at 6 o'clock with a Bulldog practice session and several activities that will include the fans.
