Local briefs include UGA Staff Council session, Elbert Co roadwork

The University of Georgia’s Staff Council holds its first meeting of the new spring semester: the UGA Council session takes place virtually and gets underway at 2:30 this afternoon.

There is more TSPLOST talk today in Athens, a 2:30 session of the Prince Avenue Corridor Improvements User Group.

Jefferson High School is in the market for a new head football coach: Gene Cathcart is leaving after five seasons to take a coaching job at Batesburg-Leesville High School in South Carolina.

Elbert County Commissioners, meeting this week in Elberton, signed off on a $1.5 million contract for road work. The plan calls for more than 20 miles of resurfacing on ten roads in Elbert County.
