Local briefs: Thanksgiving break at UGA, assault arrest in Hall Co

There are no classes today at UGA: students, staff, and faculty are on Thanksgiving break for the rest of the week. Classes resume on Monday at the University of Georgia.

The Upper Oconee Basin Water Authority, made up of representatives from Clarke, Oconee, Jackson, and Barrow counties, meets this morning in Athens. The 9:30 session takes place at Authority offices on Research Drive.

CD Kidd III has died: Kidd was a former City Councilman in Jefferson. He was 81 years old. Jackson-McWhorter Funeral Home in Athens is in charge of arrangements.

A Gainesville woman was booked into the Hall County jail after allegedly kicking a Hall County Sheriff’s Deputy. The incident happened at a convenience store in Murrayville. 41 year-old Wendy Wendt is also looking at drug possession charges, caught with what investigators say was marijuana, methamphetamine, and fentanyl.

A man from Wisconsin is booked into the Hall County jail on a murder charge: Lorenzo Moss is 29 years old, from Milwaukee. He’s accused of killing his grandfather, whose body was found after a February fire at a mobile home in Oakwood.
