Local law enforcement to take part in prayer vigil

Set for Saturday

Athens-Clarke County Police Chief Cleveland Spruill and Clarke County Sheriff Ira Edwards are among those scheduled to take part in a prayer vigil set for this coming Saturday. Organizers say it will take place on line and will begin at 10 o’clock Saturday morning.

WHAT: Online prayer vigil led by Athens-Area faith and community leaders fin support of all first responders.

WHEN: Saturday, July 18, 2020

10 a.m. ET

WHERE: Zoom link https://athensvigil.us/  and recording will be distributed for those you cannot attend.

WHY: Community-involved, non-denominational vigil for the peace, safety and health of first responders will provide an opportunity to encourage and support first responders who have become frontline ambassadors for peace, safety and health of residents during this unprecedented time of longstanding pandemic and social unrest. It is organized as a part of the Supporting the Blue public awareness campaign that has helped facilitate previous community and law enforcement engagement events in Athens.
