More cold weather on the way for Athens, NE Ga

Athens and northeast Georgia are in for one more day of relatively mild temperatures before another blast of cold weather moves into the region, Arctic air that could drop temperatures into the low twenties and upper teens by the weekend. Unlike the last two weekends, no snow or ice is anticipated.

From WSB Radio…

Mild conditions returned to Atlanta on Monday, as daytime highs reached 60 degrees.

However, a downward trend is in the forecast, with the bottom dropping out by Saturday.

A cold front swinging through on Wednesday is responsible for the drop in temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday.

By Friday, a blast of Arctic air surging south behind a strong low pressure system will drop afternoon highs into the 30s on Saturday.

Morning lows will also dip this weekend, with hard freeze conditions likely on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Enjoy the mild temperatures while they last, we are in for a chilly weekend leading into the first few days of February!
