The Morton Theatre will play host to the internationally famous Morehouse College Glee Club in a concert scheduled for next week.

“Brothers in Song, Sing on! The world-renowned Morehouse College Glee Club will appear in concert at the historic Morton Theatre on Friday, Jan. 24 at 7 pm.
The signature event, sponsored by the Morton Theatre Corporation, is part of the theatre’s 110th Anniversary Celebration. Currently directed by Dr. David E. Morrow, the Morehouse College Glee Club was founded in 1911 and is the official choral group of Morehouse College, an historically black college in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Glee Club has a long tradition of notable public appearances, including Martin Luther King Jr.’s funeral, President Jimmy Carter’s inauguration, Super Bowl XXVIII and the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.Internationally, the Glee Club has performed in Senegal, Ethiopia, Ghana, Uganda, Nigeria, Russia, Poland and the Caribbean.
“We’re excited to offer this signature concert to the Athens-Clarke community,” said MTC Vice President Cory Thornton. “To have a group of this caliber grace the historic Morton stage will be a transcendent moment in the theatre’s history.”
