NE Ga notes: sewage spill in Braselton, road closures in Hall and Habersham counties

State environmental officials are monitoring a sewage spill in Braselton: more than 40 thousand gallons of raw sewage leaked into Duncan Creek off Highway 211 in Braselton. Braselton Town Hall says the ruptured pipeline has been repaired, and that water samples are being collected upstream and downstream from the site of the damage.

A stretch of highway in Hall County is closed after heavy rains caused a section of the road to wash out: the impacted area is on Willie Robinson Road between Ledan Extension and Cool Springs Road. A detour is place.

Heavy rains force a bridge closure in Habersham County: it’s a bridge on East Mize Road in Demorest. It’s expected to remain closed for the rest of the month.
