NE Ga police blotter: Athens copper theft suspect ID’d, statutory rape charges for Elberton man

Athens-Clarke County Police have identified the suspect in the theft of $80 thousand worth of copper wire from a business on Winterville Road: John  Youngblood is from Forsyth County. Police say more arrests are possible.

An Elbert County man faces a statutory rape charge: 20 year-old Logan Vickery was arrested and booked into the Elbert County jail.

A Gainesville man is arrested and booked into the Hall County jail: there are child molestation and sexual battery charges for Kevin Boggus, allegations involving a family member.

There were no injuries in a Wednesday afternoon fire in Gainesville: Hall County firefighters say ten homeless people were able to escape the blaze that burned an abandoned building. The Fire Marshal’s office is working to determine what started the fire.

Two theft suspects are in custody in Young Harris, accused of stealing from the elderly woman who employed one of them: the Sheriff’s Office in Towns County says 30 year-old Christopher Plush and 24 year-old Devin Lowery face charges that include burglary and theft by taking. Among the items stolen were rare and valuable coins, cash, firearms, and prescription drugs.
