Oconee Co Sheriff’s Office to offer firearm safety classes

One in April, another in May

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office says it will offer two firearms safety courses this spring, one in April and the other in May. Oconee County Sheriff James Hale says each class will be limited to a dozen people.

From the Oconee Co Sheriff’s Office Facebook page…

Sheriff James Hale invites those who live, work, or attend school in Oconee County to attend Citizens Firearms Safety Classes. We have two dates available: 4/24/2021 and 5/8/2021.

We do not have any specific plans at this time for additional dates this year.

The classes are limited to 12 students each so that we may spread further apart on the range.

There is no specific age limit for the classes. Participants must be capable of following directions:

Participants must be able to legally possess a firearm.

Each participant will need to provide their own firearm (pistol or revolver) and 50 rounds of ammunition for it, hearing and eye protection, and a hat with a brim or bill.

Please do not register for the class unless you are absolutely certain that you will attend. No-shows take up a slot that could have been otherwise used by someone else.

Please send any inquiries to Sgt. Brown at mrobbins@oconeesheriff.org
