Oconee Co tax office reopens

The Oconee County Tax Commissioner's office—closed Thursday in Watkinsville for employee training—is scheduled to reopen this morning. 

Barrow County Commissioners say they are back to the drawing board in their search for an economic development director: Commissioners, meeting this week in Winder, reversed their decision to hire former Lanier Technical College administrator Lisa Maloof, citing concerns that the opening for the job had not been properly advertised. Maloof had been set to start her new job in August.

There is an agreement on water: the city of Royston will continue to be the primary supplier of water for Franklin Springs. It’s the latest extension of a deal that was struck in 2012.

There are 42 new police officers in Gwinnett County: the largest class of recruits in Gwinnett Police Department history graduated last night.
