Parent calls cops: juvenile arrested with ecstacy

From Monroe comes a report from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, where deputies received a call from a concerned parent who saw what he thought was cocaine that belonged to his young child. Investigators say it was not cocaine: it was instead ecstasy. The juvenile was taken first to the Walton County jail, and then to a youth detention center. On its Facebook page, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office says “As hard as it was for the parent to see his child have to face the consequences of his decisions, we commend the father for the tough choice he had to make today for his child’s better tomorrow. Probably not a lot of parents could choose such tough love.”

Police in Elberton were, at last report, still searching for shooting suspects: gunshots were fired into a car on Second Street in Elberton. There were no injuries reported.

Federal drug agents say it’s one of the biggest methamphetamine busts ever in Gwinnett County: $2 million worth of meth, found in Gwinnett, stashed inside Disney character figurines.
